Welcome to True Gamer

Hey I’m Theo. Like the others I define myself as a “gamer”, but I look less on the competitive side of gaming and more on the side that develops it as an art form in interactive media. Games explore life styles, stories and fantasies in a way no other medium can, through interactivity. The ability for a player to define when they move forward, why they move forward or even if they move forward is interactivity – decisions, control, personal and intercharacterial development (new word there! see if it catches on).
Also to focus on is I’m more of a budget gamer, I try a lot of demos and free to play games but rarely get the chance to buy a game and completely sink my teeth into it. That is another thing I want to focus on, trying to unleash the gamer in everyone on a zero…anything budget =D.
My first game to my memory was Hocus Pocus, floppy disk and all, side scrolling wizard shooter ABSOLUTELY INSANE GRAFIX (like what, 5 pixels?) but the first game that truly got me hooked was the oddworld series (Abe’s exodus and odyssey) with incredible story telling and level design, well…oddworld AND Star Craft, and I know that needs no introduction.

More entries to come soon from everyone at True Gamer, hope readers enjoy!

Greetings

Call me Hank. Like Oli and Michael, I'm one of the guys that will post in this blog at (hopefully) frequent intervals. I'm 17, I live in the Netherlands (don't worry, I speak and write English fluently) and... that's really all you need to know. I will most likely be talking most about the various singleplayer games that are still being released on the PC, which is what I mostly play.

I really don't know what else to say. Ciao. :P

Hey thar

My name is Michael, I am a gamer and one of the people Oli (aka Charlie) is sharing this account with.  I'll be updating occasionally about what i've been up to in the gaming world.  I started gaming at the age of 4 with the original Nintendo console by playing Mario bros. with my sisters.  Then I got into the handheld scene, as everyone does, with Pokemon Red. I love the smell of sulphur in the morning.  Then I got introduced to Warcraft 3 when I was 8 and started after that, I was hooked on PC gaming, my first proper computer was a crappy HP, it could run the essential games, I got that at the age of 9 and didn't get rid of it until I was 16.  It was a trooper, though it would make random noises, and short out during thunderstorms... I am a jack of all trades when it comes to games, never a true master of any genre.

Welcome to True Gamer

Hi there, I'm Charlie and this is a new blog about Gaming.

I suggest even if you don't like games to read these posts. I will be providing both my insight and other's insights on both new and old games as well as the patches that apply to them.

Just a little background information on me before I go off posting commentary:

My name is Charles, people tend to call me Charlie because of that. Most of my oldest friends know I used to go under my second name, being Oliver and only they  may call me Oli. I started my gaming history at the age of 5 I believe. It was right when the Gameboy color was launched with Pokemon Red and Blue version. I was very competitive with my brother and pretty much won each of the battles between us. GO BLASTOISE! But anyway, around the age of 13 I was still into the Gameboys and then moved to Hong Kong, from California. This was pretty much when my real gaming developed. After receiving a laptop and a copy of Half Life 2, I could not stop. Pokemon brought me into the world, Halo 2 got me a little competitive but more still playing on the fun side, but Half Life 2 just pulled me further into the empire of gaming and locked me in for good.

Now, there's about 5 pages I could write of games that I have played but none of them affected me as much as the three above. Apart from League of Legends, who finally pulled me into the competitive gaming because it was a lot easier to understand what to do than dota was. Dota didn't really give anyone any tips on how to play. It was like setting up Starcraft for your friend who's never played it before. It's not noob friendly.

But yeah, there's my history for you in the shortest form possible. History of gamage that is.

For my next post, I will actually be getting into games and I hope you enjoy reading this blog.
